Maryland Busted Mugshots is a private reference site, not a government office and not affiliated with a sheriff, police department, detention center, court, or corrections agency. We cannot confirm whether someone is in custody or has been released, provide or remove a booking photo, post bond, or retrieve an official record. For a record or a current status, contact the agency that holds it.
Choose the Maryland Record Holder
Maryland has no single statewide booking custodian. The arresting or detention agency, county, and record type determine where to ask. The Maryland Public Information Act (PIA), General Provisions §§4-101 and 4-201 through 4-203, sets the state framework for inspection requests; §4-351 and other laws can limit access to law-enforcement material. Ask the specific agency for an existing record and identify the date or booking details if known.
- County or Baltimore City booking: Use the County Directory to choose the locality where the arrest or booking occurred. Its local page routes readers to that jurisdiction's official roster, feed, detention office, and request process. Booking-photo requests belong with the local custodian; do not send a county booking request to DPSCS merely because the person later entered state custody.
- What to include in a local request: Contact the detention center, sheriff, police agency, or county PIA office that handled the event. Name the existing record sought, approximate date, and any case or booking identifier. A roster may show current custody only, so an older booking image may require a request to the agency that created or retained it.
- State-prison custody or DPSCS-held records: The DPSCS Incarcerated Individual Locator is for state custody and location; it is not a general public booking-photo search. Requests for DPSCS records go through its PIA page and request application. The documented PIA email is dpscs.pia@maryland.gov. These state routes do not replace a county custodian for county bookings.
- Court case or disposition: Use Maryland Judiciary Case Search for public case summaries, then contact the clerk that holds the court file when a formal court record is needed. Case Search is not a live custody tool and usually does not supply a booking photo; confidentiality, shielding, or expungement may affect what appears.
- Published wanted notice: The Most Wanted guide links to official Maryland and federal wanted sources. A wanted listing is not a custody confirmation or a court finding; use the official agency's tip route for information, and do not approach a person.
- Federal or immigration custody: The federal Bureau of Prisons locator covers BOP custody and does not publish public mugshots. The ICE Online Detainee Locator is a separate current-custody tool; neither replaces a Maryland county booking record.
